Heavy Operations

Large-scale data operations, bulk analysis, and multi-step workflows that need desktop processing power and a dedicated interface.

What Heavy Operations Does

Heavy Operations is the core capability of Beacon Workbench — large-scale tasks that need more than a browser tab can handle. Bulk data processing, comprehensive analysis runs, and multi-step workflows that would time out, crash, or be impractical in a web interface run natively on your desktop with proper progress tracking and error handling.

When the task is too big for the browser, Workbench is where it goes.

Who It Is For

Heavy Operations is for users who regularly work with large data sets, need to run comprehensive analysis across entire sites, or execute multi-step workflows that take minutes or hours rather than seconds. Content teams processing hundreds of pages, operations teams running bulk data transformations, and technical users executing complex extraction pipelines all benefit from desktop-native processing power.

How It Works

Heavy operations run as background tasks in Workbench with real-time progress tracking. You initiate the task, monitor its progress, and review the results when it completes — without needing to keep a browser tab open or worry about session timeouts.

Bulk processing handles operations across large data sets. Whether you are analysing every page on a site, processing a CSV with thousands of records, or running AI analysis across multiple inputs, Workbench manages the queue, handles rate limiting, and tracks progress.

Multi-step workflows chain operations together. The output of one step becomes the input for the next, with checkpointing at each stage so you do not lose progress if something fails partway through. If step four of a ten-step workflow encounters an error, you resume from step four rather than starting over.

Error handling is built for real-world conditions. Network failures, API rate limits, and malformed data are handled gracefully with retries, detailed error logs, and the ability to re-run failed items without reprocessing successful ones.

Results are stored locally on your machine and can be exported in standard formats. Large result sets that would be impractical to view in a browser are navigable in Workbench’s native interface.

For tasks that involve AI processing, Workbench communicates with Digital Royalty’s API and manages the back-and-forth automatically. You see progress and results; the orchestration complexity is hidden.

What Is Included

  • Background task processing — operations run without blocking other work
  • Real-time progress tracking — see exactly where a long-running task stands
  • Bulk data operations — process large data sets without browser limitations
  • Multi-step workflows — chain operations with checkpointing and resume
  • Graceful error handling — retries, logging, and selective re-runs
  • Local result storage — results saved on your machine in standard formats

Pricing

Heavy Operations is part of Beacon Workbench at £25 per month, or included in the All Products Pack at £50 per month (£500/year). AI-powered operations incur additional pay-as-you-go charges. Retainer clients receive the All Products Pack at no additional cost.

How It Connects

Heavy Operations is the foundation for Site Copy Analysis and Data Extraction, which are specialised workflows built on the same processing engine. For lightweight tasks that do not need desktop power, the Client Dashboard and Beacon Lens handle common operations in the browser.
