E-commerce

Custom software for e-commerce businesses. Order management, fulfilment integrations, operational dashboards, and systems beyond standard platforms.

E-commerce platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce are excellent at selling products. They are not excellent at running the business behind the products. Order management, fulfilment coordination, supplier communication, returns processing, and multi-channel inventory are the operations that break first when an e-commerce business starts to scale. They are also the operations that off-the-shelf platforms handle worst.

We build the operational layer that sits behind the storefront. The systems that connect your shop to your warehouse, your warehouse to your courier, your courier to your customer service team, and all of it to a reporting dashboard where you can actually see what is happening. We have worked with e-commerce businesses that were processing hundreds of orders a day through spreadsheets and email because their platform did not have the operational depth they needed.

Common Challenges

  • Order management that requires manual intervention because the platform cannot handle split shipments, backorders, or supplier-direct fulfilment
  • Multi-channel inventory synchronisation that is either missing or unreliable, leading to overselling and customer complaints
  • Fulfilment integrations that are incomplete, requiring staff to copy order data between systems manually
  • Returns and refund processing managed through email threads with no structured workflow or tracking
  • Reporting limited to what the e-commerce platform provides, which rarely covers operational metrics like fulfilment speed, supplier performance, or margin analysis
  • Customer service that cannot see order status, delivery tracking, or customer history without switching between three different tools

What We Build for E-commerce

We build systems that connect the storefront to the back office. A common project is an operations dashboard that pulls order data from Shopify or WooCommerce via API, combines it with fulfilment data from warehouse or courier systems, and gives the operations team a single view of every order from placement to delivery.

We have built custom inventory management systems for businesses selling across multiple channels (website, Amazon, eBay, trade accounts) where real-time stock synchronisation was critical. These systems pull from a central inventory database and push availability updates to each channel, preventing the overselling that was costing the business revenue and customer trust.

For growing e-commerce businesses, we also build internal tools: supplier portals for managing purchase orders, returns workflow systems that route refund requests through approval chains, and margin reporting dashboards that show profitability by product, channel, and time period.

How We Work With E-commerce Clients

E-commerce businesses think in terms of trading days and peak seasons, and we plan our delivery around that. We avoid deploying major changes during peak trading periods and structure projects so that critical integrations are tested and stable before they matter most.

Most e-commerce clients start with a single integration or dashboard and expand as they see the value. The goal is always to reduce the manual work that scales linearly with order volume, so the business can grow without proportionally growing its operations team.

Let Us Connect Your Operations

If your e-commerce business is growing but your operations are not keeping up, we can help you build the systems that bridge the gap. Get in touch to talk through what you need. We do a lot of this work on WooCommerce Development and Shopify-connected stacks. See all Industries we work with, including SaaS Companies where operational complexity takes a different shape.
