What This Integration Does

This integration connects Shopify’s order and customer data to HubSpot CRM through a custom API bridge, giving your marketing team a complete picture of every customer’s purchase behaviour without leaving HubSpot. Every order, abandoned cart, and customer milestone in Shopify becomes structured data inside HubSpot. Contacts are enriched with purchase history, deals mirror order value, and custom properties drive segmentation.

The result is marketing that responds to what customers actually do in your store. A first-time buyer enters a welcome sequence. A repeat customer who crosses a spend threshold gets moved into a VIP segment. A lapsed buyer who has not ordered in 90 days triggers a win-back workflow. None of this requires manual tagging or CSV exports. The data flows directly between the two APIs, processed through a queue-based system that handles volume spikes during peak trading periods.

This is a purpose-built integration that maps your specific Shopify data model to your HubSpot CRM structure, with logic tailored to how your business actually segments and markets to customers. It is one of several e-commerce and CRM integrations we deliver for Shopify merchants.

The Workflow

Shopify webhooks fire in real time whenever a relevant event occurs. That covers new orders placed, orders fulfilled, customers created, and carts abandoned. Each event is received by a dedicated endpoint in your Laravel backend, verified using Shopify’s HMAC signature, and dispatched to a queue job for processing.

The queue job transforms the Shopify data into HubSpot’s format. A new Shopify customer becomes a HubSpot contact with custom properties for total spend, order count, first purchase date, and product categories purchased. An order creates or updates a deal in a dedicated e-commerce pipeline, with line items mapped to HubSpot’s product catalogue. Fulfilment events advance the deal stage from processing to shipped to delivered.

HubSpot’s batch API handles bulk operations during initial migration and scheduled reconciliation runs. A nightly job compares records across both systems, catching any events that webhooks may have missed and recalculating aggregate properties like lifetime value and average order frequency.

Conflict resolution follows a clear rule: Shopify is the source of truth for transactional data, HubSpot is the source of truth for marketing preferences and sales notes. Neither system overwrites the other’s domain.

Before and After

Before: Marketing sends the same email to every customer regardless of purchase history. Segmentation relies on manual tagging or quarterly CSV imports that are outdated before they arrive. The team knows repeat buyers exist but cannot reliably identify them in HubSpot without cross-referencing Shopify exports. Campaign personalisation is limited to first name tokens.

After: Every HubSpot contact carries live purchase data: what they bought, when, how much they have spent, and how recently. Workflows trigger automatically based on real behaviour. Post-purchase sequences reference the actual product ordered. VIP segments update themselves as customers cross spend thresholds. The marketing team builds campaigns against accurate, current data instead of stale snapshots.

Who Needs This

This integration suits e-commerce businesses running Shopify as their storefront and HubSpot as their marketing and CRM platform. It is particularly relevant for brands with a repeat-purchase model (subscription boxes, consumables, fashion, health and beauty) where customer lifecycle marketing directly affects retention and revenue.

If your team currently exports Shopify data manually to build email segments, or if your HubSpot workflows cannot reference purchase behaviour because the data simply is not there, this integration closes that gap permanently. If you run Klaviyo alongside HubSpot for transactional email, see the Shopify and Klaviyo Integration for how that side of things works.

It also fits businesses scaling beyond basic email marketing into lifecycle automation, where the complexity of customer journeys demands real-time data rather than periodic imports.

How We Build This

We start with a data mapping session to define exactly which Shopify events and fields need to reach HubSpot, and how they translate into HubSpot objects and properties. This avoids syncing everything and instead focuses on the data that drives your specific marketing workflows.

The integration is built as a service layer within your Laravel application. Shopify webhooks are registered programmatically, and each event type has its own handler with idempotent processing, so duplicate webhooks from Shopify do not create duplicate records in HubSpot. For the full capabilities on each side, see the Shopify API Integration and HubSpot API Integration pages. HubSpot’s OAuth 2.0 flow handles authentication with automatic token refresh.

We configure custom properties in HubSpot during setup, create the e-commerce deal pipeline, and run an initial backfill to populate existing customer records with historical purchase data. Testing covers the full event lifecycle: order placed through to fulfilment, plus edge cases like order cancellations, refunds, and partial fulfilments.

Monitoring is built in from the start. Failed webhook deliveries are retried with exponential backoff, and a dashboard tracks sync health so your team can see that data is flowing without needing to check manually.

Ready to Connect Shopify and HubSpot?

If your marketing team is working with incomplete customer data, this integration gives them the full picture. We will scope the data flows, build the connection, and have purchase data enriching your HubSpot contacts within weeks, not months.
