The Tools That Answer “Will My Email Actually Get Read?”

Email marketing is the channel where the gap between “we sent it” and “they read it” is widest. Sending volume keeps growing. Inbox providers keep tightening filters. Apple Mail Privacy Protection broke open-rate measurement four years ago and most marketers still report inflated numbers without realising. Gmail and Yahoo’s February 2024 sender requirements added new rules that quietly disqualified scores of senders who didn’t notice. The Email Marketing Suite is built around the questions marketers actually ask: will this reach the inbox, will it get opened, will it look right when it lands.

We’ve built it for marketers, not sysadmins. The tools that exist for technical email diagnosis (DKIM record checkers, SPF parsers, mail-header tracers) are owned by MXToolbox and they’re fine for the people who already know what those acronyms mean. The audience this suite serves is different: people running newsletters, sending campaigns, doing outreach, building lists, who hit deliverability problems and don’t know whether the issue is their content, their domain, their list, or their sender setup. Every tool here is designed to translate technical findings into plain English actions.

The boundary holds the same way the other suites hold theirs. We don’t pretend to offer things that need paid infrastructure: actually rendering an email in Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail to compare across clients (Litmus territory); real SMTP-level email validation (NeverBounce, ZeroBounce); live sender reputation lookups; or automated email warmup (Instantly, Lemwarm). Inside the line we hold, the suite covers the questions marketers ask most.

What We Cover

The tools group into three categories: analysing email content and setup, calculating performance numbers, and generating compliance assets.

Analyse

  • Inbox Reachability Checker: the marquee tool. Paste subject + body + sending domain; get a plain-language verdict on whether the email will reach the inbox. Bundles spam scoring, content quality flags, and sender authentication into one report.
  • Subject Line Tester: character count, mobile and desktop preview, spam-trigger detection, openness scoring. Frames everything around whether the line will get opened, not whether it’s “technically compliant”.
  • Email Compatibility Checker: paste HTML email source; see which clients (Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail) will render features correctly and which will break. Plain-language recommendations.
  • Domain Deliverability Diagnostic: enter your sending domain; the tool checks SPF, DKIM, and DMARC under the hood and reports findings as “your domain is set up to prevent spoofing” or “ask your email service to add these records”. One unified diagnostic instead of three technical tools.
  • Email List Cleaner: paste a list, find typos (gmial.com → gmail.com), invalid syntax, role addresses, disposable domains, duplicates. Honest about what it can’t do: full SMTP validation needs paid services.
  • Personalisation Token Tester: paste a template with {first_name} tokens and a CSV of recipients; render samples and flag missing values before sending. Catches the “[MISSING: company]” embarrassments before they reach prospects.

Calculate

  • Real Open Rate Calculator (Apple MPP-adjusted): strips out the inflation Apple Mail Privacy Protection adds to reported opens. Apple’s MPP launched 2021 and inflates reported opens by 30-40% on average. Most marketers are still asking what their real open rate actually is.
  • Bounce & Complaint Rate Calculator: bounce rate, complaint rate, unsubscribe rate, with a tier verdict against Gmail and Yahoo’s February 2024 published thresholds. Surfaces “approaching reputation damage” before damage actually arrives.

Generate

  • Plain Text Email Generator: converts HTML email to the plain-text alternate that anti-spam regulations require. Preserves links, formats lists, word-wraps to 72 characters.
  • Unsubscribe Link Generator: generates the one-click unsubscribe link with List-Unsubscribe header that Gmail and Yahoo have required since February 2024. Many marketers still don’t have it set up correctly.

Where the Free Tools End

Three categories of email work need paid services. Real cross-client rendering (seeing your email actually rendered inside Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Yahoo Mail) needs Litmus or Email on Acid; the rendering infrastructure is expensive. SMTP-level email validation (checking whether each address really exists at the receiving server) needs NeverBounce, ZeroBounce, Hunter, or similar; they pay for SMTP-connection infrastructure and pass the cost on per validation. Email warmup (gradually building sender reputation on a new domain by simulating engagement) needs services like Instantly, Lemwarm, Mailwarm; they require shared sending infrastructure that mutually warms domains across customers.

Inside the boundary we hold, the suite covers the diagnostics, calculations, and asset generation that don’t need any of those.

Where to Start

If your emails are going to spam and you don’t know why, start with the Inbox Reachability Checker. It bundles content checks with sender authentication into one diagnosis. If your reported open rates seem too good to be true, the Real Open Rate Calculator will tell you what your audience is actually opening. If you’re about to send a campaign and want to verify everything’s in order before launch, the Inbox Reachability Checker plus the Subject Line Tester cover the pre-send confidence checks.

If you’re cold emailing and worried about token mismerges, the Personalisation Token Tester catches missing values before they hit prospects. If you’re ramping a new sending domain, the Domain Deliverability Diagnostic plus the Bounce Rate Calculator tell you whether your authentication and reputation are healthy. For the full range of tools across SEO, design, developer, and paid search, the Free Tools index covers all suites. For organisations running WordPress, the WP Beacon Plugin tracks deliverability-related issues across a site automatically.
