Step 01
Set up Google Business Profile and local presence
Introducers and clients search for you by name and by need, so a complete Google Business Profile is the baseline for being found and for looking real.
Do it yourself
- Create or claim and fully complete the Google Business Profile: category, services from your product set, area, hours and contact details.
- Make sure your name, address and phone are consistent with your website and directories.
- Add your niche and product lines to the profile description.
Common mistake · A thin, unverified profile with the wrong category, invisible for the searches that matter.

List in the NACFB find a broker and other directories
Trade-body directories are a high-trust discovery channel, since a prospect using the NACFB’s find-a-broker tool is pre-qualified and trusts the badge.
Do it yourself
- Once a member (see Get Authorised), complete your NACFB find-a-broker listing, and FIBA’s if you belong, with your niche, products and region.
- Add relevant, reputable local and industry directories.
- Keep every listing consistent with your website and Google Business Profile.
Common mistake · Joining the trade body but never completing the directory profile, paying for the badge and skipping the free lead source.

Step 03
Build a compliant review habit
Reviews are powerful social proof, but a published review is a financial promotion, so the review habit must be built to be fair, clear and not misleading.
Do it yourself
- Create a simple, consistent post-completion routine for requesting reviews from happy clients.
- Make sure how you display and use reviews meets the fair-clear-not-misleading standard and any network or compliance sign-off, for example no cherry-picked outcome claims.
- Route reviews to Google and your trade-body profile where allowed.
Common mistake · Turning a client review into an outcome or rate claim and publishing it as marketing without realising it is now a regulated promotion.
